Jonathan S. Schick, MA, MFT-A
“I am very proud and very excited to introduce Jonathan S. Schick, MA, MFT-A, who recently graduated (with a 4.0 GPA!!) from Pepperdine University with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy! He is licensed through the State of Alaska to diagnose and treat mental health for individuals, couples, and families. As an Associate, Jonathan will be receiving weekly supervision through Karen Cunningham, LMFT-S.
As Jonathan’s focus has been a systems approach to families, he is educated, qualified, and committed to working with individuals, couples, and families. His approach to therapy is collaborative and strengths-based. Jonathan values the relationship between client and therapist and sees it as key to driving growth and change. Jonathan brings warmth and humor into the therapy room and uses his passion for mindfulness and body awareness to facilitate exploration and expression. Jonathan strives to help his clients live a more meaningful, fulfilling life, whether this means conquering internal struggles or facing issues with important people in their lives. Jonathan takes a caring and methodological approach when designing individualized treatment for his clients, and focuses on the strengths of each client and their relationships to produce enduring change.
Jonathan worked with Alaska Behavioral Health as an intern, providing individual and group psychotherapy services to a wide range of clients. Jonathan has a strong knowledge and understanding of therapeutic techniques associated with trauma, marriage and family, and emotional disturbances. Jonathan has completed the following trainings:
- Gottman Level 1 Clinical Training: Bridging the Couples Chasm
- Gottman Level 11 Clinical Training: Assessment, Intervention, and Co-Morbidities
- Project Management Training Course, University of Alaska, Anchorage Academy of Supervisors, State of Alaska
- First Aid/CPR/Outdoor Emergency Care Technician
