Communication

“Communication challenges in relationships are one of the most common reasons a couple will initiate therapy.  Our therapists are actively involved in helping individuals and couples develop effective and healthy ways to express their thoughts, feelings, and needs to one another.  We offer a safe and non-judgmental space where people can openly express themselves. We teach you the skills you will need to effectively communicate with your partner, family members, friends, and even co-workers.  We work so that each partner can feel heard, understood and validated, while hearing, validating and understanding the other.

We identify and address overall communication patterns and dynamics that may hinder effective interaction.  We will work with you to rid your communication of criticism, defensiveness, stonewalling, and contempt, which can erode relationships over time. We also identify and address non-verbal communication, body language, and tone of voice, as these elements significantly impact how messages are received and interpreted.  Ultimately, the goal of working on communication in relationships is to create an environment where both partners feel heard, valued, and understood.”
